And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

quoting Marianne Williamson in his Inaugural Speech, 1994

Honorary Patron

We are honoured to be under the honorary patronage of Her Excellency Mrs Glenda Morean Phillip QC, the former High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago in the UK 2004-2008.  She became ambassador of Trinidad & Tobago to the United States on June 6, 2008, serving concurrently as Trinidad & Tobago's ambassador to Mexico and permanent representative to the Organization of American States.

As a woman of many firsts in her own right, she has been and continues to be an inspiration… a true role model across the generations.

Mrs Glenda Morean-Philip was the first Trinidad-born woman to qualify as a solicitor and was engaged in private practice until 2001, when she was appointed Attorney General for Trinidad and Tobago, a position she held until her posting to London in November 2003. From 1989-1991 Mrs Morean-Philip was appointed the first female President of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago and also served as a member on the Association's Disciplinary Committee (1992-95; 1998-99). The High Commissioner was also a member of the Legal Aid and Advisory Authority (1994-2001) and from 1999-2000 she acted as a Supreme Court Judge. Mrs Morean-Philip has been a member of the Senate and has sat on a number of commissions. An enthusiastic sportswoman, the High Commissioner was also the first female President of the Tennis Association of Trinidad and Tobago.

On behalf of Carivog International and the committee of Miss Trinidad & Tobago UK, we are over- whelmed by the great work she has achieved for our country and support of the Trinidad & Tobago nationals in the UK.  We are deeply grateful. Through Her Excellency's honorary patronage we will continue to develop togetherness and harmony in the Trinidad & Tobago UK community.
